If it’s halfway between Thanksgiving and Christmas, right in the middle of the holiday season, then it’s once again time for the annual Holiday Blues Revue, presented by Joe Neri & Blues Dawg. And, for the 3rd year in a row, it will be performed at the Old Town Center for the Arts in Cottonwood, on Saturday, December 11 at 7:30 pm.

In addition to Blues Dawg, which consists of Joe Neri on guitar and vocals, Hutch Hutchinson on bass and Ed Tortorello on drums, this year’s Holiday Blues Revue offers up several of the area’s most exciting and talented musicians.

Lap steel and slide impresario Don Whitcher will perform, adding his roots-based texture to the mix, along with relative newcomer to the local music scene Dan Bresnan, who is already known on guitar for his versatility and musicianship.

Duane Ewing, one of the best sax players in Northern Arizona, will also be on stage with his fluid blend of jazz and blues.

Rounding out the band will be Blues Dawg regular Keys Marsh on keyboard, contributing his exceptional rhythm and lead progressions and licks.

Blues Dawg is a contemporary electric blues band steeped in the traditions of American blues and roots music. Its repertoire consists of both originals and covers, greatly influenced by the great blues masters of Chicago, Memphis, Texas and California.

Blues Dawg was founded by Neri in the mid-90’s in Los Angeles, playing all of the Southern California venues and recording two studio and three live albums. After moving to Sedona in early 2005, he re-formed.

“We’re glad that Joe moved,” co-Director of OTCA William Eaton remarked. “He has brought a tradition to the area and to Old Town Center for the Arts. His blues shows are supported by a growing number of fans. Joe is currently working on a blues festival for the Spring with several of Arizona’s most prominent blue players. We’re planning to announce the surprise guests at the Holiday Blues Review.”

The ‘Holiday Blues Review’ will be pure blues – no side trips into classic rock or country. So, put down your holiday shopping pack, give your computer mouse a rest and put on your foot-stomping shoes. Joe Neri and friends are going to help you through the holiday blues!
