Sedona Recording Artists, Meadowlark
to Perform Holiday Concert in Cottonwood

Sedona recording artists Meadowlark, performing with violinist Allen Ames from Lyra, offer a spellbinding evening of music celebrating the Holiday season and Winter Solstice. The trio promises to enchant with harp-like acoustic fingerstyle guitar, mandolin, flutes and pennywhistles, and violin as they perform a heartwarming collection of holiday favorites sprinkled with a dash of traditional, contemporary and original Celtic inspired melodies and the stories behind them at the Old Town Center for the Arts in Cottonwood, Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 7:30 p.m.

Thomas Blaney of The Foothills Sentinel says of Meadowlark, "Rick's masterful fingerstyle guitar evokes exquisitely rich tones while Lynn's effervescent flute and pennywhistle intertwine each musical moment with joyous grace. All of the ingredients for a musical event that will soothe your heart and spirit!"

Founded by guitarist Rick Cyge and flutist, Lynn Trombetta, Meadowlark melds new age, folk and contemporary acoustic music with Celtic influences. Cyge’s folk roots run deep and his “harp-like” fingerstyle guitar work wraps around the music like a warm comforter , reminding some of the phrasing of William Ackerman. His New England folk beginnings as a singer/composer/ guitarist were enhanced by his being founder of Wood & Strings Music Center, a hub of concerts, music instruction and fine instruments in the Boston scene. In 1989 his travels brought him to Arizona, where he discovered a new voice to write for in the warm and mellow tones of Trombetta’s flute.

An Arizona native, Trombetta’s musical career was nourished in the magnificent canyons of Sedona where she spent her childhood summers, playing her flute from high and allowing the sounds to waft down through Oak Creek.

Violinist Allen Ames joined Meadowlark on their first release in 1996 and has been an important ingredient ever since. He has also performed with the William Eaton Ensemble since 1986, and his popular duo, Lyra, with his wife Maryanne Kremer-Ames, has been the summer music at The Briar Patch Inn in Sedona for twenty years.
