7th Annual
7th Annual Holiday Blues Revue In the holiday spirit of giving, this concert will benefit the Yavapai Food Council, a local 501c3 organization committed to feeding the hungry throughout all of Yavapai County. Concert attendees are encouraged to bring donations of any shelf-stable foods. Special need items for YFC’s backpack program are listed below. The Holiday Blues Review is known for its “blues-ified” holiday music and holiday blues music, always performed by some of the best musicians in the area and always intended to bring some foot-stompin’ holiday cheer to all. This year two popular local bands - Blues Dawg and Green Light - will share the stage, performing both original songs and holiday classics, separately and together (that’s right, both bands on stage at the same time!), for a fun evening of holiday entertainment. Blues Dawg has been a blues staple in Northern Arizona for most of the past decade, steeped in the traditions of American blues and roots music. The band features Joe Neri on guitar and vocals, Bo Wilson on guitar, Duane Ewing on sax, Hutch Hutchinson on bass and vocals, and Gino Romeo on drums. Green Light has been wowing increasingly large audiences since its inception a couple of years ago as an original rock band, with Lesli Carroll on sax, Robin Miller on lead guitar and vocals, Chicky Brooklyn on rhythm guitar and vocals, Tommy Acosta on bass and vocals, and Mike Liebowitz on drums. “We’re really excited about this event,” OTCA co-Director William Eaton remarked. “Two great bands to get you into the holiday spirit and an opportunity to give to an outstanding charity – the Yavapai Food Council.” Remember to bring any shelf-stable foods for donation and especially the following items, to benefit YFC’s backpack program and youth pantries: * Individual / microwavable macaroni & cheese * Individual / microwavable pop-top soups * 3.5oz or 5oz cans of tuna or chicken * Individual juices - no sugar added Yavapai Food Council (YFC) is a 501c3 organization committed to supporting those who feed the hungry. The organization was founded in 2009 as Verde Food Council and since has grown to serve all of Yavapai County from the West Sedona location. In 2013-14, YFC collected 87,000 pounds of food (equal to 72,500 meals) through the Yavapai Food Neighbors Project. The food was distributed to food banks and child hunger programs in Camp Verde, Cottonwood, Beaver Creek, Sedona and the surrounding areas. In addition, an estimated 25,000 meals will be provided at free or reduced rates to hungry kids through YFC's National School Lunch Program (NSLP) at Desert Star Community School for the 2014-15 school year. For additional information on YFC programs and how you can help, please visit YavapaiFoodCouncil.org or call 928-254-8172.
