Songwriter John Batdorf
Brings Stories and Songs to Old Town

John Batdorf has a lot to say, and a lot to sing about. He’s sung with, and shared the stage with some of the top iconic pop and rock musicians of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. John comes to Old Town for a concert at Old Town Center for the Arts on Friday, February 4th at 7:30 pm. He’s a fascinating story in rock history; a guitarist singer with a cult following, quintessential raw voice, and gift for songwriting.

From songs of love and love lost, faith and belief, to the lucky ones and those denied, with promise and dreams John Batdorf’s songwriting goes deep into the human experience. His songs are catchy, infectious and meaningful. When you hear John sing about things that really matter to him, you'll understand why they mean so much to his fans that have spanned over three decades. John Batdorf is a renaissance man, surviving many careers in one lifetime. Starting with the 70's he was a recording artist with Batdorf and Rodney and Silver, recording and touring this country and Canada for most of the 70s. They headlined many shows, but as an opening act they played with prominent rock groups such as Fleetwood Mac, America, Seals and Crofts, Dan Fogelberg, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, The Doobie Brothers, Hall and Oats, Pure Prairie League, Harry Chapin, John Prine, Dave Mason, and Kris Kristofferson just to name a few!

John spent much of the 80's as a staff songwriter writing songs for America, England Dan, The Curry sisters and Kim Carnes, and as studio singer singing on hundreds of jingles, movies, and TV shows. John sang on four main titles including, Doctor, Doctor, Tom and Jerry Kids, Garfield and Friends and Promised Land. He also sang background vocals on some really great recordings by Rod Stewart, Motley Crue, Dave Mason, Eric Anderson, Jefferson Starshi, Donna Summer, Dwight Yoakum, Boy Meets Girl, Mickey Thomas, Stan Ridgeway, James Lee Stanley, David Lee Roth, and The London Choir Boys.

When the 90's rolled around he started producing records and commercials. During that time he met and went on to write some great songs with Michael McLean, that produced four albums. In 1996 John got to score prime time shows including Promised Land and, Touched By An Angel.

What is most important to John is his current work. In recent years, he has recorded a new CD with James Lee Stanley All Wood And Stones, a highly original take on early Rolling Stones songs, done acoustically with tight harmonies; along with his first solo EP, "Side One." His first full length solo CD, Home Again is an acoustic guitar and vocal enthusiasts dream come true! John's 2008 CD, Still Burnin teams him up again with Mark Rodney, revisiting many of their great songs from the 70s, along with new originals. This marks the first new Batdorf and Rodney recordings since 1975! After one year from writing to mastering, Johns' finest CD ever, Old Man Dreamin is taking on the world!

Come witness the craft of a great songwriter that has spanned three decades. Revisit places of the heart and new places yet to go.
