Jimmy Fortune toured, sang and performed with the famous Statler Brothers for 21 years. His distinctive tenor voice endeared him to fans the world over. Jimmy’s concert will feature some of the number one hits he wrote for the Statler Brothers along with original songs from his solo country and gospel albums.

Jimmy joined the Statler Brothers as a temporary replacement for Lew DeWitt, after DeWitt heard him singing at a ski resort and recommended him. Following an audition in Nashville, Jimmy was contacted by the Statler Brothers and performed his first show with them on January 28, 1982, in Savannah, Georgia. Due to the debilitating effects of Crohn's Disease, Lew was unable to return to the stage with the Statlers, and Jimmy was hired as a permanent replacement in August of 1982.

Jimmy Fortune quickly lived up to his name. He wrote the group’s second No. 1 hit Elizabeth on their 1983 album, and followed this good fortune with two more No. 1 hits – My Only Love and Too Much On My Heart. Fortune also wrote the top 10 hit Forever , and co-wrote the top 10 hit More Than a Name on the Wall. In addition to many songs placing high on the charts, the Statler Brothers won numerous awards while Jimmy performed with them

Jimmy has performed in all 50 states, and in Canada. He was part of the Statlers’ annual Happy Birthday USA celebration in Staunton, Virginia, for 14 years. He also sang on many of the Statlers’ gold, platinum, and double platinum recordings. Jimmy’s career included The Nashville Network’s popular The Statler Brothers Show which aired for seven seasons and debuted in 1991 as the highest rated show for the network.

Jimmy has performed at the White House for Presidents Ronald Regan and George H.W. Bush, and a special performance for actress Elizabeth Taylor, singing his song Elizabeth to her for a birthday celebration.

Jimmy and the Statler Brothers were inducted to the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 2007, and into the Country Music Association Hall of Fame in 2008. Jimmy launched is solo career in 2002 with his first recording, When One Door Closes. This CD is in keeping with his country roots and delivers the quality voice and heart that fans have come to expect from this talented musician. Featured on this recording are selected requests from his years with the Statlers, new songs written by Jimmy and John Rimel, and Til I Gain Control Again, from one of his favorite songwriters, Rodney Crowell. The new songs continue to echo the values gained from his mother and father, recall childhood experiences, reflect on roads traveled, and what lies ahead.

In December 2004 Jimmy released his second solo collection and his first gospel CD, I Believe. I Believe has classic favorites like Amazing Grace, I'll Fly Away, and How Great Thou Art along with personal favorites Take Me There, He Touched Me and Jimmy's Original's He's Gettin’ Me Ready, I Believe and more.

Jimmy followed up his first two recordings with a Christmas CD Feels Like Christmas in 2006, a live concert DVD in 2007, and Windows, a country CD in 2009.
