The holiday season is about celebrating, giving and receiving. What better way to honor this tradition by coming down to the Old Town Center for the Arts for a good ol’ foot-stompin’, roof-raisin’ holiday blues show on Friday, December 11 at 7:30 pm, featuring Joe Neri & Blues Dawg and an all-star lineup of local musical greats!
In addition to Neri and his rockin’ blues band, special guests include the local and legendary Suzie Schomaker singing backup and lead as only she can do, the multi-talented Eric Williams on harmonica and sax, and the dynamic duo of Ed Jones and Duane Ewing on saxophones.
You’ll be entertained by a great mix of blues covers and originals, with some bluesy holiday songs thrown in for good measure.
Blues Dawg is a contemporary electric blues band steeped in the traditions of American blues and roots music. Its repertoire consists of both originals and covers, greatly influenced by the great blues masters of Chicago, Memphis, Texas and California.
Blues Dawg was founded by Neri in the mid-90’s in Los Angeles, playing all of the Southern California venues and recording two studio and three live albums. After moving to Sedona in early 2005, he re-formed the band, keeping the same basic sound of covers and original blues. The band consists of Neri on guitar and vocals, Keys Marsh on keyboard, Hutch Hutchinson on bass and Ed Tortorello on drums.
Suzie Schomaker is one of Sedona’s most versatile musicians, having worked with the Indigo Girls, Keb Mo’, John Sebastian, Carvin Winans and many others on the stage and in the studio. She is the founder of the Sedona Performers Guild and it was her vision that made Studio Live into a reality.
Eric Williams has been using his amazing musical talents to delight audiences for over 25 years. He is an accomplished musician, composer and recording artist with an extensive repertoire in jazz, blues, rock and popular songs of the 1920's through today. He sings, plays piano, guitar, saxophone and harmonica and a dozen other instruments.
Both Ed Jones and Duane Ewing are members of Eric Williams & The Cruisers, a local band that performs an eclectic blend of 40's swing, 50's Rock & Roll, 60's R&B 70's. and 80's favorites.
So don’t miss this great evening of rockin’ blues by some of the very best talent in all of the Verde Valley.
