Guitarist Extraordinaire Anthony Mazzella – in Concert

Anthony Mazzella, one of the most virtuosic and passionate guitar players in the world today, will play a special solo concert on Thursday, May 27th at 7:00 PM, at the Old Town Center for the Arts, located at the corner of 5th Street and Main in Old Town Cottonwood.

Last January Anthony played to a standing room only crowd at OTCA, as he unveiled new solo guitar compositions on his just released CD “Heavenly Guitar.” In an expression of re-creating the music from the CD, Anthony played along with the CD tracks. This concert will feature many of the songs from his newly released album but all songs will be played live, including some improvisations and new material.

“The first time I saw Anthony play, I was just amazed,” OTCA co-director William Eaton said. “He does some things on guitar that no one else can do, in a very musical and creative way. We’ve had a lot of requests for Anthony’s return and we’re excited to present this concert as a lead in to the Memorial Day holiday weekend.”

Anthony Mazzella is a professional concert guitarist, recording artist and producer. Larry Flick of BILLBOARD magazine says of Anthony, "his fingers move like lightning with a precision that will boggle the mind" and GUITAR ONE magazine voted him "one of the top ten guitarists in the country".

Anthony started on the violin at the age of five, and then proceeded to the piano. At the age of 13 he found his true love in the guitar. The influence of music and techniques from guitar masters such as Pat Metheny, Eddie Van Halen, Michael Hedges, Andres Segovia and many others, have inspired his one-of-a-kind style that continues to grow and evolve.

Anthony began his performance career as a concert guitarist in New York City. There he built up a strong following, performing in almost every live music club in Manhattan including the, Bitter End, CBGB's, Cat Club, and Cafe Wah. He landed a headlining spot at one of the most prestigious venues in NYC, the BLUE NOTE, just one year after street performing in front of it. He has spent years touring colleges and universities all over the U.S., and has appeared on stages all over the world as a solo artist and as guitarist for world music master Omar Faruk Tekbilek. He has opened for headlining artists, James Brown, Tower of Power, The Commodores, and Spyro Gyra.

Anthony’s original music is composed with a fusion of world influences consisting of acoustic and electric fingerstyle, rock, jazz, classical, flamenco, funk, R&B, celtic, ambient, medieval & middle-eastern. His guitar style is what sets him apart from other guitarists. The execution of his two handed tapping techniques, mixed with arpeggiated passages, fleet strumming, and single note melody lines create an orchestral fullness that sounds like several guitars playing at once.

Don't miss this special opportunity to hear Anthony Mazzella in the vintage ambience of the Old Town Center for the Arts.
