Anthony Mazzella

Guitarist Extraordinaire In Concert

Friday, April 10, 7:30 pm

Anthony Mazzella, one of the most virtuosic and passionate guitar players in the world, returns from New York City for a special ‘encore’ performance at Old Town Center for the Arts, on Friday, April 10th at 7:30 PM. Anthony’s last concert at OTCA, in November, was sold out and those in attendance were treated to a “sonic barrage of musical inspiration,” as one fan commented.

Anthony Mazzella is a professional concert guitarist, recording artist and producer. BILLBOARD magazine describes him as "the new generation of guitar hero." He has released four CD's, tours internationally, has contributed tracks on compilation CD's, made guest appearances on major artist’s releases, receives airplay on national radio and satellite television, and has an independent film soundtrack to his credit.

Anthony began his performance career as a concert guitarist in New York City. There he built up a strong following, performing in almost every live music club in Manhattan including the, Bitter End, CBGB's, Cat Club, and Cafe Wah. He landed a headlining spot at one of the most prestigious venues in NYC, the BLUE NOTE, just one year after street performing in front of it. He has spent years touring colleges and universities all over the U.S., and has appeared on stages all over the world as a solo artist and as guitarist for world music master Omar Faruk Tekbilek. He has opened for headlining artists, James Brown, Tower of Power, The Commodores, and Spyro Gyra. His original music is composed with a fusion of world influences consisting of acoustic and electric finger-style, rock, jazz, classical, flamenco, funk, R&B, Celtic, ambient, medieval & middle-eastern.

BILLBOARD magazine says of Anthony, "his fingers move like lightning with a precision that will boggle the mind" and GUITAR ONE magazine voted him "one of the top ten guitarists in the country".

In concert you’ll hear Anthony’s original music, and you’ll hear popular tunes from some of your favorite artists, played in a style that is like no other. Two handed tapping techniques, mixed with arpeggiated passages, fleet strumming, and single note melody lines create an orchestral fullness that sounds like several guitars playing at once.
Anthony started on the violin at the age of five, and then proceeded to the piano. At the age of 13 he found his true love in the guitar. The influence of music and techniques from guitar masters such as Pat Metheny, Eddie Van Halen, Michael Hedges, Andres Segovia and many others, have inspired his one-of-a-kind style that continues to grow and evolve. He also plays a one-of-a-kind 10 String Guitar that he designed and was built by his father. On this unique instrument, Anthony displays his abilities in fingering bass lines and chords with his left hand while simultaneously playing melodies on the fret board with his right.

Anthony recently performed a spirited solo concert at The Vatican in Rome, Italy where the performance was broadcast world-wide on satellite TV and radio. But you don’t have to travel to Rome to see Anthony perform.

Don't miss this special opportunity to hear Anthony Mazzella in the intimate, vintage ambience of the Old Town Center for the Arts. Tickets for Anthony Mazzella in Concert are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Seniors and students may purchase tickets for $10 in advance or at the door.
