Electric Harp Guitar Group

Special CD Release Concert

Featuring:
William Eaton, Anthony Mazzella, Fitzhugh Jenkins

Friday, April 3, 7:30 pm

Guitarists William Eaton, Anthony Mazzella, and Fitzhugh Jenkins bring their eclectic electric one-of-a-kind harp guitars to Old Town Center for the Arts on Friday, April 3rd, 7:30 pm for an exciting one-night only concert performance. The concert will feature music from their newly released self-titled “Electric Harp Guitar Group” CD which has climbed to number three on the Echoes Radio program play list this past week.  Echoes is syndicated to over 130 radio stations around the world and is narrated by founder and impressario John Diliberto. You can also catch ‘Ehgg’ on My Space and CD Baby.

The Electric Harp Guitar Group is a first, for Verde Valley, and the world. Musician and luthier, William Eaton designed these instruments to be played as an ensemble. Each harp guitar has 18 strings, and when all three are played together the instruments simultaneously resonate in harmony, rhythmic syncopation, and melodic counterpoint.  The low tones, created by the longer neck scale lengths, bring a timbre and sound quality that is unique to these instruments. The Electric Harp Guitar Group’s music could be described as an inner space - sonic voyage, but the group goes beyond ambient trans-groove boundaries, exploring pop, funk, folk and classical themes. And, when you least expect it, “Ehgg” will launch into an archetype classic riff song like “Stairway to Heaven,” “Sunshine of Your Love,” “Day Tripper,” “Johnny B. Goode,” “Purple Haze,” or some other rock anthem.

Each musician brings a unique style and creative vision to the group.  Anthony Mazzella is recognized as one of the most innovative and technically proficient guitar players in the world, and was voted as “one of the top ten guitarists in the U.S.” by Guitar One magazine. Anthony will return from New York to appear with “Ehgg.” Fitzhugh Jenkins has become renowned for his versatility on acoustic, classical, and bass guitars and his performing and recording career has taken him around the U.S., Europe, India, Canada, and Hawaii. This past year Fitzhugh’s original music has been aired on the Discovery Channel and the Sundance Channel. William Eaton is acknowledged as one of the world’s great designers and builders of unique stringed instruments that, according to one reviewer, “look like lost artifacts of a highly evolved alien culture.”

Eaton has designed and built many multi-stringed instruments throughout the years, which have been featured in books, magazines, museums and art exhibits. While his previous creations are one-of-a-kind, this is the first time he has produced similar instruments with a group vision in mind. It is also the first time he has formed a team to help with the construction. Luthiers Robert Mazzullo, Kris Olsen, and Bart Applewhite, who are staff members of the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in Phoenix, worked with Eaton to complete the three instruments.

Each member of this group is an established guitarist, performer, composer, producer, and recording artist, with four Grammy nominations and many other awards to their individual credits. The Friday, April 3rd concert will be a special CD release event, and the only performance in Northern Arizona by the group this spring. CD’s will be available and will be signed by the group following the concert.

Tickets for Electric Harp Guitar Group are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Seniors and children may purchase tickets for $10 in advance or at the door.
